Hassan al-Nouri

Hassan al-Nouri (born 1960)[1][2] was a candidate for the Syrian presidential election in June 2014. He lost the election to Bashar Al Assad with 4.3% or 500,279 votes according to SANA (Syrian Arab News Agency), the state run newspaper.[3]

Syrian media claimed that al-Nouri held a PhD from John F. Kennedy University—this alleged PhD was actually acquired from Kennedy-Western University, an unaccredited diploma mill that was shut down in 2009.[4]
