Harsana

Harsana or Harshana is a sub-clan of the warrior community Gurjars.

Origin

The Harsana/Harshana subclan is said to have taken its name from a famous king named Harish Chandra ruling under Pratiharas, near Jaisalmer. Harish Chandra was also called as "Harshu" and Harsha. After his name this clan was called Harishwane or Harshane which later corrupted to Harsana. Nowadays, they live mostly in the Indian states of Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and some parts of Rajasthan.
