Harry Nickel McCrory was the third head college football coach for the West Virginia University Mountaineers located in Morgantown, West Virginia and he held that position for the 1895 season. [2] His coaching record at West Virginia was 5 wins, 1 loss, and 0 ties. As of the conclusion of the 2007 season, this ranks him 25th at West Virginia in total wins and fourth at West Virginia in winning percentage (0.833). [3]
McCrory later worked as a druggist in West Virginia.[4] He married Bessie Lee Nuzum in 1897.[5] He died of bright's disease in 1907.[6] He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont.[7]
Harry McCrory's grandson, Lee Harland McCrory (son of George Harland McCrory; 1898–1977[8]) was presented with an alumni award from West Virginia University.[9]
