Hardaway Site, also known as 31ST4, is an archaeological site near Badin, North Carolina. It preserves remains of prehistory, and is also important in the history of archeological methodology.[2]

The site was excavated by archaeologists from the University of North Carolina (UNC) from 1948 until 1980 under an arrangement with Alcoa, which owns the land. While the archaeologists were allowed to study the artifacts found, Alcoa retained ownership of all of the artifacts. In 2005 Alcoa donated the more than 1.3 million artifacts to UNC.[3]

It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1990.[2]
