Hamburg Airport (Flughafen) is the newest station of the Hamburg S-Bahn, serving Hamburg Airport. It opened in 2008. According to S-Bahn Hamburg GmbH — owner and operator of the S-Bahn — about 13,500 passengers per day used the Ohlsdorf–Hamburg Airport line in 2009.[4] and this had increased to 20,000 by 2013.[5] The name of the station is "Hamburg Airport (Flughafen)", with "airport" included in both languages.
Service
Trains on route S1 from the central station divide at Ohlsdorf: the front three cars go to the airport, while the back three go to Kornweg and Poppenbüttel station. The new station eliminated the need for the bus service from Ohlsdorf station to the airport.
