Hamsaladeevi is a village in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh close to where one branch of River Krishna meets the Bay of Bengal. It is also known as "Swan Island".

The river Krishna branches in to two streams at Puligadda near Avanigadda. The eastern stream empties into the Bay of Bengal at Palakayi Tippa, 5 kilometres from Hamsaladeevi. Tippa or Dibba in Telugu means elevated land. The western stream again branches into three streams, Lankavani Dibba Krishna, Naasagunta Krishna, and Venisagaram Krishna, and then empties into the Bay of Bengal.

The people of Andhra Pradesh worship the River Krishna by the name "Goddess Krishna Veni". Nearly 8% of the total cultivated land in the country is in the Krishna River watershed.

There is also an old Venugopalaswamy (Lord Krishna) temple at Hamsaladeevi. People celebrate 'Magha Pournami' (February) as a holy day. That day Anna Daanam (food-donation) is done for who ever comes to visit this place.

Hamsaladeevi can be reached by bus from Vijayawada or from Gudivada. There are regular buses from Avanigadda which is the nearest big town.

If you are driving from Vijayawada then use the new road called 'Chintala' Road which has scenic beauty and no traffic hastles. The road goes adjacent to Krishna river from Vijayawada(starting Yanamalakuduru) to Avanigadda(puligadda Aqueduct). On the way you have few shops to sell cooldrinks, water and all kinds of vegetables grown in the feilds on river bed.No ATM's,petrol bunks on the way for a stretch of 70 km.So better to refill your petrol tank and pockets before you take this road. However,if needed you can always drive in to any of the major villages between chintala road and NH9.

Once you reach Avanigadda drive towards koduru. As you reach Koduru, you may encounter a couple of ambiguous boards showing way to Hamsaladeevi.Stop and ask for direction at Kodur main junction.

The Road from Koduru to Hamsaladeevi is not in a very good condition. Better to have food packed as the area is not having any good hotels which serve lunch. If you are packing your own lunch from home, its good that you pack more .You get a privilege to offer some food to the children and the poor whom you may encounter at Hamsaladeevi beach. If you have old clothes at your home, chance to pack them and see if you can offer to the needed on the way.

The other places you can visit while you plan for Vijayawada to Hamsaladeevi trip could be as follows: Mopidevii, Srikakulam, Iluru, Nadakuduru which has good temples. All these places are reachable and are within 250 meters to 2KM while you drive on the 'Chintala Road'.
