"Half Measures" is the twelfth episode of the third season of the American television drama series Breaking Bad, and the 32nd overall episode of the series. It originally aired on AMC in the United States on June 6, 2010.

Plot

Skyler pushes Walt to accept her plan to launder his drug money through the car wash he previously worked at, before offering to allow Walt to have family dinners as a ploy to make the Whites seem reconciled.

Jesse begins to plot against those who killed Combo, showing Walt the blue meth that is being sold by their competitors, and asking him for the ricin poison so he can kill the troublesome dealers. Walt dismisses the plan but Jesse tries to go ahead without him. He plants poison in burgers destined for the dealers, yet Mike and Victor get to him first, preventing the plan from going ahead.

Gus, Walt, Jesse and the dealers meet, to try to defuse the potentially dangerous dispute between them. The dealers agree that they will stop using children, and Jesse seems content.

Meanwhile, Marie wheels Hank out of the hospital after winning a bet where she tried to arouse him during a sponge bath.

Mike tells Walt a story from his time as a beat cop, where he allowed an abusive husband to live, only to find out that he had beaten his wife to death shortly after. He warns Walt: "No more half measures."

Late at night, Jesse hears about the death of Tomás, younger brother of his girlfriend Andrea, and rushes to the scene. Jesse, high on drugs, rushes to kill the dealers, Tomás' murderers. As Jesse draws his gun, Walt knocks down the dealers with his car, shoots one in the head and demands that Jesse "Run."

Reception

Aaron Paul won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in this episode.[1][2]

This episode received widely positive reviews from critics. In IGN's review, the episode is called "fun, creative, well-directed, well-acted and set us up for what's going to be an awesome finale", and was given a 9.7 rating.[3]
