Haerts (stylized as HAERTS) is an American indie pop band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2010.[1] The band consists of Nini Fabi (vocals), Ben Gebert (keyboards), Garrett Ienner (guitar), and Derek McWilliams (bass).[2][3]

The group released their debut extended play in 2013 and has toured with bands such as Shout Out Louds, Atlas Genius,[4] Washed Out,[5] and St. Lucia.

History

Haerts is made up of four members who were originally born in Germany, England, and the United States.[6] They met while they were all students at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.[7] Three of the band members (Nini Fabi, Ben Gebert, and Derek McWilliams) graduated from Berklee College of Music where they performed as the band Nini & Ben.[8] Nini & Ben signed to Boston’s Heavy Rotation Records and had two songs on the album, Dorm Sessions 6, released in 2009. The duo moved to Brooklyn, eventually signed with Columbia Records and became Haerts.

Haerts' 2012 debut single, "Wings", received regular airplay throughout the United States and was also featured as the song of the day by KEXP-FM.[9] They followed up with the release of their second single, "All the Days", in 2013. The song was voted as the "Song of the Summer" by Elle magazine.[10] The group's first EP, Hemiplegia, was released in October 2013.[11][12] It was produced by St. Lucia and contains both of their original single releases.[13] The band's eponymous debut album was released on October 27, 2014 and it features three of the songs from the their first EP. Alongside, the debut album's release, two singles have spawned from the album, "Giving Up" and a later release "Be the One".
