Work
Ha-ha is a Melbourne based stencil artist, originally from Hamilton, New Zealand. Despite his occupation, Ha-Ha has never been to art school.[1]
In his early stencilling, Ha-ha drew inspiration from a street artist known as Psalm, and later Rone and Phibs. He engages in rolling - taking buckets of paint and putting up a sign using a paint roller. These tags can be three stories high, with the year 2010 marked on all his work. His recurring themes include robots and the Australian outlaw Ned Kelly. His work centres around iconic imagery that can be found in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.[1]
Ha-Ha and his art feature in RASH, a 2005 award winning feature documentary that explores street art in Melbourne, Australia. Ha-Ha's work has been collected by the National Gallery of Australia & was also part of the Space Invaders exhibition.[2]
