HMS Squirrel was a discovery vessel launched in 1582 and lost with all hands in 1583.
The Squirrel was the ship used in Sir Humphrey Gilbert's early 1580s expedition to Newfoundland and the north-eastern coast of North America under the command of Simon Fernandez.[1][2] The initial aim of the voyage was to reach the area of Narrangansett Bay, which it did before returning to England within three months.[1]
