Hunsur Ramachandra Bhargyachandra (Kannada: ಹು. ರಾ. ಭಾರ್ಗವ) known mononymously as Bhargava is an Indian film director who worked primarily in Kannada cinema. Considered one of the best directors in Kannada cinema, he was awarded the Puttanna Kanagal Award, the highest award in Kannada cinema, in 2012.[1]
Early life
Bhargava was born in Hunsur taluk in the Mysore State (now Karnataka). Before becoming an independent director, he worked as an assistant to film directors like Hunsur Krishnamurthy, Siddalingaiah, Vijay, Geethapriya and K. S. R. Das.
He has worked as an associate in many great movies like Bangaarada Manushya, Bhaktha Khumbara, BabruVaahana, Naa Ninna Marayalaare, Mayor Muthanna etc.
This gave him a rich experience and moulded his career to become a famous director.
He has got a good number of disciples who have become successful directors. S.Narayan, Phani Ramachandra, Chandrashekar Sharma and others.
Music Directors Rajan-Nagendra have worked with him for more than 20 films. Many of the films have got melodious songs. He has also worked with great music directors Laxmikant Pyarelal, Bappi Lahiri, Satyam, Gurukiran etc.
Career
Bhargava began his career in films as a film producer. Having produced 8 films, he turned to direction.[2] He made his debut as a film director in 1977 with Bhagyavantharu that had Rajkumar and B. Saroja Devi playing the lead roles. His next film Olavu Geluvu (1977) had Rajkumar and Lakshmi played the lead roles. These two films were considered the best in his career as a director.
His first film with Vishnuvardhan "Asaadhya Aliya" is a success one too. He has a total of 23 films with Dr. Vishnuvardhan. The rate of success of the combination is very high. To name a few are Jeevan Chakra, Karunamayi, Jana Naayaka, HrudayaGeetha, Karna, Mathe Haadithu Kogile, Onde Guri, Krsihan Nee Begane Baaro and many others.
He has produced seven good films and also has many hundred days films to his credit. He is the only luckiest Film director to have two silver Jubilee functions at the same place and same time. He is good at action films too.
He has directed seven films for Ambareesh, 4 films for Anant Nag, 2 films for Shankar Nag, 2 films for Shiva Rajkumar and many other actors.
His 50th movie "Ganndulgali Kumara Rama" is a mighty and colorful historical one.
