Hüseyin Alp (1935 - January 8, 1983) was a Turkish basketball player and supporting role movie actor. With his height of 2.15 m (7.1 ft), he was one of the tallest Turkish basketballers.[1]

Hüseyin Alp was born 1935 in Kangal, Sivas Province. He started playing basketball at the age of 26. From 1966 to 1974, he played in center position at the İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi B.K. and Altınordu. During his career, he enjoyed six champion titles with his teams in the Turkish Basketball League (TBL). He was capped 73 times by the Turkey national basketball team.

Beside his sports career, he starred between 1965 and 1978 also in some Turkish movies in supporting roles for his giant-like appearance.

Hüseyin Alp died on January 8, 1983 at the age of 48 in Istanbul.

Legacy

A basketball club formed of junior women's at Kağıthane district in Istanbul, the "Kağıthane Hüseyin Alp S.K.", honors him with its club title.[2]
