Gurpreet Ghuggi (Punjabi: ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਘੁੱਗੀ) (born 19 July 1971) is an Indian stand-up comedian, who also work as actor in TV soap operas, Bollywood and Punjabi cinema.[1][2][3][4]

Early life

Ghuggi was born on 19 June 1971 in Khokhar Fojian village in Gurdaspur district in the Indian state of Punjab. He is married to Kuljeet Kaur, who hails from Jalandhar. They have two children, one son and one daughter.Ghuggi completed his formal graduation from Doaba College Jalandhar City, Punjab.

Career

Ghuggi started his career as a Punjabi actor in Jalandhar Doordarshan Tele-films. He appeared in a lead role in a TV soap opera Parchhaven, produced by Jalandhar Doordarshan. However, he received much attention only after participating in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge reality show on STAR One TV. He later appeared in another show Hans Baliye on Star One TV with his wife Kuljeet Kaur and won the contest. He has acted as a comedian in Bollywood movies and Punjabi movies as such, Namastey London, Race, Asa Nu Maan Watna Da, Yaara Naal Bahaara, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Singh Is Kinng, Mera Pind, Jijja Ji, Jag Jeondeyan De Mele, Tera Mera Ki Rishta, Speedy Singhs and Munde UK De. He has also appeared in the live shows as such, Shounki Mela 2003 (along with Kamal Heer, Manmohan Waris and Sangtar), Vaisakhi Mela 2009 (along with Jazzy B and Sukhshinder Shinda) and Vaisakhi Mela 2010 (along with Nachatter Gill, Master Saleem and others). He played the role of Sundeep Cheema in "Paaji in Trouble" (later renamed to Bhaji in Problem) Punjabi movie with Akshay Kumar. Currently, he resides in Jalandhar, Punjab.[5]
