Gunbir Singh Sidhu is a film producer[1] and distributor, predominantly working in Punjabi films. He began his career as a film producer and he produced his first film Jatt & Juliet in 2012. He is best known for producing and distributing Jatt & Juliet and Jatt & Juliet 2.
Early life
Sidhu was born on June 1, 1981 in Amritsar, Punjab. He was brought up in the cities of Amritsar and Ferozepur for the first six years of his life as his father, Kulbir Singh, was a Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer at that time and was posted as sub divisional magistrate during that time. He was born in a Sikh family with his grandfather originally from Punjab, now in Pakistan. His grandfather migrated to India, when he was a kid, with his family and settled in the small town of Hoshiarpur, Punjab. GSS’s mother, Sudarshan Kaur, is a retired government teacher. His father retired as a senior Indian Administrative Services (IAS).
Career
Sidhu started his business in 2004 with a second hand car sale/ purchase business. He moved on to various other businesses like education, real estate, insurance and agriculture before pursuing his dream of making films. He established his business and entered into film production in 2012 and produced his first Punjabi film Jatt & Juliet in 2012. He also went on to produce Tu Mera Baayi Mein Tera Baayi (2013), Best of Luck (2013) and Jatt & Juliet 2 (2013), a sequel to Jatt & Juliet.
