Guilin Medical University (GLMU; simplified Chinese: 桂林医学院; traditional Chinese: 桂林醫學院; pinyin: Guìlín yī xué yuàn) is a public university, located in Guilin, Guangxi, China. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in medicine.
History
Guilin Medical University (GLMU) was founded in 1935 from the former Guilin Senior Nurse Midwifery School. GLMU was upgraded and renamed as Guilin Medical School in 1958. Approved by the former State Education Committee in 1987, the school was upgraded to a college for medical undergraduates. In 2006, GLMU was authorized to conduct graduate education and was evaluated and accredited an “Excellent University” by the Ministry of Education of China. At present there are 45 international students from Nepal, India and Pakistan studying in bachelors and masters level.
Philosophy
Guilin Medical University gives priority to clinical medicine and integrates pharmacy, biotechnology, medical assay, and nursing into a multi-major harmoniously developed university with stronger comprehensive power to run a university and also with a definite influence in and out of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. GLMU takes an active part in the international exchanges and cooperation, and it is one of the earlier institutions of higher learning being accredited by the former State Education Committee.
GLMU has international students from USA, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, etc..

Campuses
GLMU is made up of three campuses: Le Quan, Dong Cheng and Lin Gui. Le Quan campus is near the Solitary Beauty Peak rising sharply from the ground, Dong Cheng campus lies in the east bank of the colorful Li River. Er Tang campus is being planned and built.
