The Guba Genocide Memorial Complex is a museum in Quba, Azerbaijan, which was built between 2009 to 2013.[1] It is dedicated to the memory of victims of March Days and is now a museum and tourist destination under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
History
The construction of museum started in 2009, after discovery of mass burial in 2007.[1] On November 2007, President Ilham Aliyev established the President’s Commission on the Guba mass grave and allocated 1 million Azerbaijani manat for construction of the museum.[2] Its mandate was to investigate the creation and maintenance of a memorial to victims of the Guba mass grave and an appropriate annual commemoration to them.
On September 18, 2013, president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex.[1][3] In October 2013, the French Senate delegation, headed by senator Nathalie Goulet, laid a flower before the monument and commemorated the memory of the genocide victims.[4][5]
