Grupo FM
Grupo F.M., is the short form of Grupo FM Multimedios, an organization that was born in Veracruz, Mexico, founded in December 1969 by Félix Malpica Mimendi and his son Felix Juan Malpica Valverde.
It was founded in a time when nobody believed, cared or paid attention to the new FM band. The reason was simple to understand: Everybody had an AM radio at home and in their cars. So this group had the idea that one day, sooner or later, the FM radio stations would be preferred by the public for three simple reasons: Better audio quality, even and permanent coverage and audio separation for being capable of transmitting on two channels (stereo sound). Grupo FM Multimedios installed the first commercial FM radiostation in the state of Veracruz that could cover the Veracruz-Boca del Río area and they had their permission and call letter: XHPB-FM. They named it "PB Stereo" (today called "Mar FM") on the frequency of 99.7 MHz. A couple of years later, they installed XHPR-FM "La Romatica" on 101.3 Mhz. (today called "SOY FM") and its frequency was 101.3 Mzh., but that had to be moved to 101.7 MHz (until today), because there was an iter-modulation with another FM station that belonged to another radio group. Grupo FM Multimedios then installed in the city port of Tuxpan. XHTXA "Calor 93" today is called "SOY FM" on 93.3 MHz.
Grupo F.M. has being on the air since that time with several important well known radio programs such as Grupo FM Noticias, Lideres de Opinion, Los Clasicos and Noche mágica.
