Grossmann film and wine festival

The Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival is a Slovenian film festival specialized in genre movies, with emphasis on Horror and Fantasy. The festival takes place every year in late July in the picturesque town of Ljutomer, at the heart of the winegrowing Prlekija region.

The 10th edition took place from the 15th to the 19th of July 2014. Guest of Honour and receiver of Lifetime Achievement Award was director Djordje Kadijević.

History

Festival was launched in 2005 on the 100th anniversary of Slovenian cinema in Ljutomer, where the first Slovenian motion pictures were made by the hand of Dr. Karol Grossmann. It was initiated by Film Practice Plan 9 and Development Agency of Prlekija with help from the European Structural Fund. It featured a selection of unconventional movies and brought to Ljutomer most of their authors, which was something quite uncommon for Slovenian conditions. This tradition was carried on successfully, program and accompanying activities were constantly upgraded and with time Grossmann became one of most interesting film events in this part of Europe. Sice 2006 festival features wine program with numerous free tastings of competing wines. The best wine of the festival is chosen by the film guests. Accompanying program features live concerts, exhibitions, book presentations and a special event on the final day of the festival (Zombie Walk in 2009, Monster Walk in 2010, Vampire's Ball in 2011, Doomsday Walk in 2012, Zombie Walk in 2013, Zombie Quadrille in 2014).

Since 2010, Grossmann Fantastic Film and Wine Festival is an adherent member of the European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation.
