The grey-browed brush finch (Arremon assimilis) is a species of bird in the Emberizidae family. It is found in the undergrowth of humid forests, especially near the edges, at altitudes of 300 to 1,200 metres (980 to 3,940 ft) in the Andes Mountains of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and most of Peru.
Taxonomy
The grey-browed brush finch was often treated as a subspecies of the stripe-headed brush finch (A. torquatus), but was determined a distinct species on the basis of differences in vocalization, plumage, and genetics.[1] The SACC split the group in 2010.
