Greg Thompson (bishop)
Gregory Edwin "Greg" Thompson (born 1956) is an Australian Anglican bishop.[1] He became the 13th Bishop of Newcastle on 2 February 2014.[2] Previously he was the Bishop of the Northern Territory.[3]
Thompson was educated at the University of Newcastle[4] and Ridley College and ordained in 1986.[5] In 1988 he became Parish Priest of Darwin in the Northern Territory where he stayed until 1994. He then he became the NSW State Secretary of the Bush Church Aid Society. In 1999 he became Rector of St John’s Darlinghurst;[6] and in 2004 of St John’s Canberra, his last post before his ordination to the episcopate on 31 May 2007 in Christ Church Cathedral, Darwin.[7][8]
