Greenwood High is an International day cum . It is established under Greenwood High trust in 2004. The main campus which is 20 acre is slocated in Sarjapur road near Gunjur village in Bangalore, Karnataka India. This trust also runs 3 preools in Bangalore located in Koramangala, Whitefield Main road and Bannerghatta road and two pre schools in Nagpur and Kolkata near Salt Lake.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (Ex President India) has visited this school in 2012 to address the students[1] about importance of self learning. Their futuristic curriculum lays equal emphasis on academics and personality development.In Jan 2014, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia has performed in this school for students and shared his thoughts about classical music and flute as a musical instrument.[2]

Greenwood High was the only school from Bangalore to donate for Uttarakhand Floods in 2013.It has sent goods worth INR50 lakh[3] and monetary donation over INR3 lakhs.

Curriculum

GWH follows IB DP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program), IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) and ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) curricula. It has completed the IB authorization[4] process in 2011 and became an IB world school. Presently it is offering IB diploma program from ages 14 up to 19 years for secondary school. Greenwood High is now affiliated to ISC also which commences from 2015-16.

For Primary & Middle classes i.e. 1 to 10th, it offers both ICSE & IGCSE curriculum. GWH offers Spanish, German & French as a second language option for IGCSE. IGCSE exams are conducted by CIE, (Cambridge International Examination).

This school is accredited by the University of Cambridge, UK; the International Baccalaureate, Geneva, and ICSE council, New Delhi.

Facilities

This school is situated on 22 acres of land. It has one admin block and 3 respective blocks for ICSE, IGCSE & IB curriculum. The campus has two separate dormitories for Boys and Girls. Their library has a collection of more than 22,000 titles, including books, Journals, Magazines and e-resources, which are available for students and teachers alike. The campus has a half-Olympic-sized swimming pool, 2 Basketball courts, 1 Volleyball court, 2 Lawn Tennis Courts, Hockey ground,Hore house, Skating rink, and a Cricket field.

  3. Greenwood High International School awarded one of the “100 Best Schools in India” by Engineering Watch.[7] The award ceremony was a part of the India's Most Authentic School Summit 2013 organized by Engineering Watch on 21 July 2013 at Scope Convention Centre, Delhi.

Sports & Extracurricular Activity Achievements

Greenwood High lays equal emphasized on academics and extracurricular activities.[10] Chess is a part of curriculum in this school.[11] To promote extra curricular activities it invites famous personalities and experts in the campus, who interact with students and share their thoughts.

Over 700 students[12] has participated in a play pied piper of Hamelin which was directed by Arundhati Raja who is a founder of Jagriti Theater.[13] Theater is a subject in IGCSE & IB course.

Aroon Raman,[14] a famous author whose research and innovation company works in the area of materials science and has won critical acclaim for developing scientific talent at the grassroots,has visited and interacted with IB & IGCSE students of this schools.[15] The theme was "The Story Within Us All’

This school's students have won many state and national level tournaments & awards .Below are few mentions.

  1. Vidya Ramesh ( IB DP ) student has been awarded prestigious National Innovation Foundation award instituted by the union department of science and technology (Govt. of India) for her compassionate idea to make life easier for street vendors who use handcarts.[16] The award was presented by former President A P J Abdul Kalam on 19 Jan 2014.[17]
  2. Shraddha Somanath, a KG student of this school has won silver medal[18] at[19] Asian School Chess championship held in Sri Lanka between 30 August and 6 September, where as many as 385 children in different age categories from 15 countries has participated.[20][21][22][23]
  3. Umang Bhatia, 11th IB student has got three acceptances in the Golden Digital Circuit.[24]
  4. Aashna Majmudar of Grade 8 has represented Karnataka State Junior Basketball Team in the 40thSub-Junior National Basketball Championship[25] held at Patliputra Sports Complex (Patna, Bihar) from August 18–25, 2013.
  5. Mrigank Shekhar of greenwood High has secured 10th[26] Rank in the MaRRS International Spelling Bee held on 29 June 2013.
  6. GWH is winner[27] of the Mahindra Football National Inter-school Championship in 2012.
  7. Greenwood High has also record of winning inter-school chess tournament in Bangalore 5 times[28] in a row.
  8. Shraddha Somanath of KG II has got 2nd Place and won Silver Medal in the Under-5 Girls Category of the National School Chess Championship[29] at Chennai from 9 to 11 June 2013.
  9. Suchitra Rameesh a grade 7 student has finished No.1 in the under 12 (C Category Girls) in the Indian Golf union national merit list and 4th in the All India Juniors in Dec 2011.[30]

Management

Bijay Kumar Agarwal[31] who is Chairman of the Board of Trustees and also the chairman of Salarpuria Sattva Group,[32] a reputed property developer and aerospace business[33][34] company in Bangalore India. The Managing Trustee are Niru Agarwal, Manas Mehrotra, Sanjay Jhunjhunwala, Jagannath Subbarao, Meena Jhunjhunwala and Shrikant Jhunjjhunwala.
