Greenset

GreenSet is a tennis hardcourt acrylic surface used in many professional tennis events run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and on the ATP and WTA tours. It is made of layers of synthetic resin and silica on top of an asphalt or concrete base, for permanent facilities, or on top of a wooden platform, for occasional venues.

GreenSet surfaces are homologated by the ITF Court Pace Rating categories, classified in the Medium-Slow, Medium and Medium-Fast.[1][2]

GreenSet has been in use since 1970, when it was first introduced in Europe. Since then, over 60,000 tennis courts around the world have been coated with GreenSet. These include the British Lawn Tennis Association’s National Tennis Centre at Roehampton,[3] the ATP Headquarters in Ponte Vedra, Florida, the Centros de Alto Rendimiento in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, and hundreds of other clubs and resorts in more than 80 countries.

GreenSet has also been chosen for numerous occasional events, especially in indoor venues. The ATP Finals have been played regularly on GreenSet courts,[4] with the latest editions having taken place at the O2 Arena in London. Other major tournaments, such as the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris,[5] the ATP 500 in Basel, Switzerland,[6] as well as many Davis Cup and Fed Cup ties, are also held on GreenSet courts. Following on players' satisfaction in official tournaments, GreenSet has also been chosen recently for exhibition matches: Nadal vs Federer in Madrid,[7] Lapentti vs Sampras in Guayaquil.[8]
