Great Barr Primary School

Great Barr Primary School is a junior and infant primary school with academy status on Aldridge Road in Great Barr, Birmingham, England for children aged 3–11. The school usually acts as a precursor for Great Barr School, a secondary school adjacent the site.

The School colour is red, the children wear red jumpers with the school logo on. The school logo contains a sheep and the school name.

There are 460 pupils at Great Barr Primary School, with two classes in each year group.

At Great Barr Primary school, healthy lunches are freshly cooked on site. There is a flexible dinner option for pupils to choose which days they want a cooked meal. Also healthy snacks are available for KS2 at break time.

There is a school council made up of children from year 2 upwards. They arrange events for the pupils and share new ideas to the senior management team to improve the pupil's school experience.

Facilities:

Astro-turf: This provides opportunities for children to play a variety of games safely in PE sessions, at lunchtimes and after school clubs.

2 Playgrounds: Children in Key Stage one play in the front playground whilst children in Key Stage two play together in the back playground.

Hall: There is a full sound, lighting and stage system which can be used for productions, class assemblies and awards ceremonies. Everyday children use the hall for assemblies and PE sessions such as dance and gymnastics.

Library: Children are able to borrow books every week from the fiction library.

Creative arts room: When learning about musicians children can use this room to play specific instruments and create performances.

ICT suite: The ICT has Apple Mac computers which children can use as a learning tool using Microsoft and Apple programmes.

Canteen: Great Barr Primary school is very fortunate to have a separate canteen where food it made fresh each day on site. The children use the canteen at both break times and lunchtimes.

Family centre: The family centre is home to both the early risers and kids clubs before and after school. It is also used for workshops with children and parents, and conductive education.

Garage: Used to store the school’s two mini-buses.

Non-fiction library: Situated in the ICT suite, children can use this library when learning in creative curriculum to find out more information about their topics.
