Grant William Veitch Harrold (born 1978, Airdrie, Scotland) The Royal Butler, has been described as the UK's leading and Official Royal Etiquette Expert and Royal Butler Trainer. He is a former Royal Butler to Prince Charles, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, as well as other members of the British Royal Family along with other VIPs and celebrities.[1][2][3] He has also worked for Urs Schwarzenbach and Major Christopher Hanbury on the Ben Alder estate.[4] Grant is believed to be the first Butler for Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge while looking after them at Highgrove House

Now based in Gloucestershire, Harrold now owns a British Etiquette and household consultancy company, Nicholas Veitch Limited.[5][6] He also gives talks and demonstrations on afternoon tea, dinner parties and similar events.

Royal Partnership

Grant has also teamed up with HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia and Serbia, who is a niece of Elizabeth II Queen of the United Kingdom and cousin of HRH The Prince of Wales. Princess Katarina's paternal great great grandfather was Alfred, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha the second eldest son of Queen Victoria, and her maternal great great great grandmother was Princess Alice of the United Kingdom the second eldest daughter of Queen Victoria. Her maternal great grandmother was Princess Alice of Battenberg ,who was the mother of her great uncle Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Together, Grant and Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia and Serbia train Butlers and teach Royal Etiquette in the United Kingdom and overseas. They have also created a Butler School.

Etiquette

HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia and Serbia, a member of the Royal Family of Serbia and a great-niece of HM Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain and HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, has teamed up with Grant Harrold to become the leading authority on Royal Etiquette. They have become known as an authority on Royal Etiquette

Princess Katarina is also related to the French King, Louis XIV (1638-1718) who transformed a royal hunting lodge in Versailles, a village 25 miles southwest of the capital, into one of the largest palaces in the world, He officially moved his court and government there in 1682. It was against this awe-inspiring backdrop that Louis tamed the nobility and impressed foreign dignitaries, using entertainment, ceremony and a highly codified system of etiquette to assert his supremacy. He therefore is credited as the man who created Etiquette. The word Etiquette means Tag or Label.

Television and radio

He appeared regularly as the Butler on the reality television programme Country House at Woburn Abbey between 2000 and 2003 whilst working for Robin Russell, 14th Duke of Bedford and his son Andrew Russell, 15th Duke of Bedford, and then in 2012 was part of the BBC Three series Be Your Own Boss.[5] In 2013 Grant featured with Ruth Watson in "Ruth Watson means business! in which he helped Ruth improve Fawsley Hall in Northhampton. Grant is also reported to have filmed for a new television series for channel 4, to be broadcast in 2014.

In 2012, he appeared on RTL.[7] He has also been interviewed by Kate Clark and Anna King on BBC Radio Gloucestershire and by Peter Levy on BBC Radio Humberside.[8]

In 2013, he was interviewed by Charlie D'Agata for CBS News on British etiquette.[9] He also appeared on ET Canada talking about his role and time with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and about the birth of Prince George of Cambridge.

2012 lawsuit

In 2012 Harrold agreed an out-of-court settlement with his former employer Prince Charles, following claims of workplace bullying.[10][11]
