Grant Community High School was established in 1930 and is a public high school located in Fox Lake, Illinois, United States.

District and school information

Currently, approximately 1800 students attend Grant Community High School and the school is still growing, due to the amount of construction in the area. With a new addition and renovations completed in 2011, Grant is now a two-story 260,000-square-foot (24,000 m2) building that sits on 42 acres (170,000 m2) of property. Another addition is currently being built. The district obtains most or all of its students from four public elementary school districts (Big Hollow, Gavin, Stanton and Palombi) and three private parochial schools (St. Bede, Calvary Christian Academy, and St.Joseph Catholic School).

On August 23, 2012, parents of students attending GCHS received notice from the school that it had failed to meet "No Child Left Behind" standards, by failing to make adequate yearly progress for at least 5 years in the same subject (mathematics or reading). Grant Community High School is in process of major restructuring of the school’s curriculum and assessments, but will continue to offer public school choice and supplemental educational services.
