The Grand Prix Stakes is a Brisbane Racing Club Group 3 Australian Thoroughbred horse race held under set weights with penalties conditions, for horses aged three years old, over a distance of 2200 metres held at Doomben Racecourse in Brisbane, Queensland in May.[1] Total prize money is A$150,000.

Race history

The race is considered by many to be the major prep leadup up event for the Group 1 Queensland Derby.[1]
When the race was held at Eagle Farm it was held in late May or early June. Since 2010 in has been moved to earlier in the BRC Winter Carnival.[2] The race has lost some of its prestige since it was downgraded in 2006 and stakemoney is far less than the $300,000 in 2001.[3]
