Fictional character biography

Grand Master Robo is a villain of Super Commando Dhruva comics serise. He is the supreme boss of a terrorist syndicate network operating worldwide called the Robo Army. He confronted Dhruva many times but he lost every time. However, Dhruva always failed to catch him as he always succeeded in escaping. Originally he was a gangster called Robert Sheen. Another gangster called L Salvano tried to kill him by bombs but he survived as Doctor Schilder saved him. Another doctor Marian Cole was taking care of Sheen because he liked her. Doctor Schilder loved Marian but decided to ask her to marry Sheen so that she could prevent him from becoming a criminal. However, the first thing Sheen did after marriage was the brutal murder of Salvano. He entered the world of Crime but took great care not to let Marian know about this. When Marian came to know about this she decided to leave him. She left his house when she was pregnant. She began living with her mother. There she gave birth to a baby girl called Natasha. Sheen wanted to punish Marian for jilting him but he loved her very much and could not kill her. Thus, he secretly kidnapped baby Natasha. Many years later, he became the boss of a big terrorist syndicate and named himself as Grand Master Robo. He got Natasha trained in various fighting skills and made her the commander of his army. When Natasha met Dhruva, she fell in love with him and abandoned the world of crime. Few years later, Dhruva succeeded in arresting Robo but could not get him punished as there was no evidence or witness against him. Thus, Robo was acquitted. A terrorist group gave Robo, a contract to kill a British diplomat who was visiting India. Robo bombed the car of that diplomat, only to find an injured Marian, riding with that diplomat inside. Marian had taken a lift in the car. First time, he became a victim of terrorism. He then decided to surrender to police. By co-incidence, Doctor Schilder was in Raj Nagar. Robo brought Marian to Schilder. Meanwhile, his daughter Natasha was facing harassment from corrupt police officers for being a terrorist's daughter and she had decided to return to her father. She did not let Robo surrender and went to the world of crime along with her father.

First Appearance

His first appearance was more of a teaser than a real introduction, which was kept under wraps till quite some time. Robo was first revealed as a mysterious kingpin of international crime syndicate in the closing pages of Super Commando Dhruva’s 5th comic titled Maut Ka Olympic. Robo is shown as a mysterious man holding a mamba snake in his hand and seated in his chair at an unknown location (presumably his hiding den), monitoring the sequence of events that lead to the destruction of his cherished ‘olympics’ of absurd and bizarre burglaries and thefts. These ‘games’ seem to be nothing more than an ostentatious entertainment activity for criminals across the world, but Robo is nevertheless enraged at being outsmarted by someone he considers a mere amateur crime fighter (read Super Commando Dhruva). He vows revenge from Super Commando Dhruva by getting up from his seat and tearing the snake in two pieces like a clay tube, manifesting his anger and humiliation to the readers in a highly impactful manner. This is the first time Robo’s half machine-half human body is shown in full light, concluding this very mysterious and engaging introduction of a character that would later turn out to be the nemesis and the longest standing rival of Dhruva. Robo again made a small appearance in the 15th comic book of Dhruva series, Ek Din Ki Maut – a sci-fi thriller based on human cloning- before he finally appeared in his first full-fledged role as the eponymous crime lord in Grand Master Robo – Dhruva’s first double-digest and one of his most memorable comics.
