Baul Samrat Gostho Gopal Das, was a famous folk singer of Bengal folk songs known as Palli Geeti, which was enrished by Bhatiyali, Bhawaiya, Jaari, Murshidi.[1] The palli geeti are sung in specially in Delta of the Ganges in both East and West Bengal.
Life of Gostho Gopal Das
Gostho Gopal Das was born in 8th Jan 1948 in Hoogly District in West Bengal, India. He became noted for his melodious songs. He resided in Bagula Paschim para near Dhan Hat. He died on December 4, 1986. His son Gostho Gokul Das was also a Bengali folksinger.
Works of Gostho Gopal Das
It is the popular song "Guru Na Bhoji Mui" which murmured along all villages of East and West Bengal. He created waves in palli geeti in history in Bengali folk singing arena by "Chader Gae Chand Legeche". He was especially noted for the songs dedicated to the memory of Indira Gandhi such as "Octobarer aktirish 1984".
