Goronwy ab Ednyfed
Goronwy ab Ednyfed (c. 1205 - 17 October 1268) was senechal to Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, Kingdom of Gwynedd between 1246 and 1256. He was the founder of the Tudor family of Penmynydd:
- From Goronwy ab Ednyfed (d. 1268) were descended the "Tudors of Penmynydd". His son, Tudur (d. 1311), and grandson GORONWY AP (d. 1331), appear to have been members of that Welsh official class of which their kinsmen, Sir Gruffydd Llwyd (q.v.) and Rhys ap Gruffydd (d. 1356 ) (q.v.), were outstanding members.[1]
His father was Ednyfed Fychan (died 1246), senechal to Llywelyn the Great, Prince of Wales; his mother, Gwenllian, was daughter of Rhys ap Gruffydd (Lord Rhys). It is known that he inherited land in: Anglesey, Arllechwedd and Ceredigion.
