Gorgage

Gorgij (alternate: Gorgage) is one of the prominent Baloch tribes mainly dwelling in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is one of the most powerful Baloch tribes in Iranian Baluchistan and Afghan Baluchistan.

Fact: His Higheness Mir Mohammad Tayeb Gorgij(gorgage)son of Mir Mamod Gorgij(Emambakhsh)son of Mir Shah Nazar Khan Gorgij,son of Mir Shah Nazar Gorgij, son of Mir Morrod khan Gorgij,son of Mir Normamad khan gorgij,son of Mir Masti khan Gorgij. The city of Zahedan in Balochistan was named eirab. It belong to Gorgij and his family, the same did the area of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

They were the first inhabitants of Dera Bugti (the district of East Balochistan). After many battles with other tribes they migrated to other parts of Balochistan,Among the bravest baloch commanders the name of Mir Balach Gorgage is on the top of list who fought days and nights to overwhelm British army at the time of British domination in south Asia. Sardar Balach Gorgage grave is in Dera Bugti, He is the Ideal of Mir Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and also Nawab Mir Khair Bukhsh Marri that's way he Named his son Mir Balach Marri. For a long time the Gorgage chieftain was settled in the Afghan part of Balochistan but recently, owing to the spread of the Gorgage population, and also owing to borders which have separated the Baloch people into three neighboring countries (Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan), three tribal chieftains have emerged. Two of them belong to Irani Balochistan, and one in Eastern Balochistan.However the vast majority of Gorgage tribe inhabit in Iranian Balochistan.The well-known cities where Gorgage reside in Iran are Zaheedan,Chahabar,Bahu Kalat and Bandar Abbas.

In Pakistan, the Gorgage Tribe's chief, Sardar Mir Muhammad Umar Gorgage, is a prominent and well known political leader and member of the National Assembly. Sardar Mir Muhammad Umar Gorgage began his political career in 1990 in the Jamhoori Wattan Party. Sardar Mir Umar Gorgage was one of the close friend of Nawab Mir Akber Khan Bugti, and in 1998 he became district chairman of Chagai for six months after a government change. In 2007 when Jamhoori Wattan Party was divided in three parts, he resigned and joined the Pakistan Peoples Party and took part in the 2008 election.
