Gordon Boyd (born 27 March 1958) is a Scottish former professional footballer who is best known for his time with Rangers.[1]

Boyd played for the West of Scotland’s elite amateur boys clubs Glasgow United AFC and Eastercraigs AFC. He was an outstanding schoolboy footballer captured by Rangers FC as a 12 year old making history in 1970 by being the youngest ever youth to sign S.F.A. schoolboy forms for Rangers on his thirteenth birthday.

An under 15 Scottish schoolboy international,Boyd also had spells with Fulham Barnsley and Scunthorpe United. In 1974-75 Boyd made his professional international Scotland debut age 16 in a Under 18 European Championship match v Denmark at Rugby Park Kilmarnock.

The following year 1974-76 Boyd continued his international career for Scotland Under 18’s managed by Andy Roxburgh to win a prestigious international professional youth tournament in Cannes. Scotland beat Finland and Italy drawing with Brazil 0-0 in the decider qualifying match to win the group, Boyd scored the only goal in the final to beat the host nation France 1-0. Boyd never full filled his exceptional young talent. He finished his playing career at semi professional non-league Goole Town in 1986.
