Gonda, Aligarh

GONDA is a Block (prakhand-प्रखंड) Headquarters in Aligarh district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.Gonda is a combined name of two Gram Panchayats named Nagla Sabal urf Gonda and Nagla Darbar(दरबर).

History

There is a great incident which took place in the revolt of 1857 in which Raja Amani Singh repelled and defeated the contingents of Scindias of Gwalior. The troops of Gwalior attacked under the leadership of Major Burtlon. There is a statue of Raja Amani Singh near Iglas.Raja Amani Singh was the Brave king of Lagsama region. He was from Kshatriya community Thakurela Jat. He also defeated the Chauhan rajputs in a war who came to capture this region. He was from the village Gahlau of Lagsama region. Gonda and its nearby region is densely populated with the Thakurela jats who are the branch of Kakran clan. The whole region is dominated by these jats. They were the rulers of this region from 1046 AD. They migrated from Mandore where they had ruled for many centuries before the Rathore rajputs. In the Gonda region they expelled the Janghara rajputs and established their empire. However other sub castes of Jat community also dwell in this area. There is a very good understanding among all communities of the area such as Brahman, Vaishya, Jaatav, Dheemar, Dhobi, Naai, Badhai etc. All live peacefully and help each other. The distance between Malipura and Gonda is 15 km. and Khair is 14 km. far away from Gonda.

Geography

Gonda - The rapidly growing town is a commercial and educational hub for 80-100 villages located in this region (Lagasma). It is well connected by road and is a junction of Mathura-Raya-Gorai-Aligarh and Agra-Hathras-Iglas-Khair-Delhi road. It is situated at 21 km from G.T.Road at Aligarh, 23 km from Aligarh Junction Railway Station and 41 km from Taj Expressway at Tappal.

Gonda is developed in last 25 years to great extent across Iglas-Khair Road. It extends from ढाड़ (dhand) to नयाबास (towards khair). However, there is limited good development seen on Gonda -Aligarh roads up to water tank. At a distance of 21 km from Gonda is Aligarh city. The Road from Gonda to Aligarh is called Gonda-Aligarh Road. Hopefully in Future Gonda may be Stretched to Village Mangarhi. Another Name of Gonda Area is Lagasama. Murwar is Village situated 5 km from Gonda on the Gonda Iglas Road (Also called Khair - Hathras road). This road also connects Khair and Hathras. Gonda is one of the upcoming blocks of Aligarh district. The block was at an out side of village near bijalighar. The new building has come up. Veterinary center is also located in Block premises. There are no good numbers of shops, however all basic shops are available. There are 2 nationalized banks (Canara Bank and SBI) and a Gramin Bank also 1 Co-operative Bank. There are 2 petrol/diesel pumps and three Cold storages near Gonda. Also IndianOil Gas Agency has been opened in Gonda.

Educational details

There are 3 colleges in Gonda- Lagasama Inter College, Balvir Singh Inter College and Dorilal vidya Niketan inter college,Gonda. There is one Govt. degree college established in 1998, situated on Khair road. There is not have any good college for study. Gonda's student goes to Aligarh and Khair for better study.

     Ch.Bijendra Singh Ex MLA Iglas and Ex MP Aligarh Ch.Malkhan Singh Ex MLA Iglas have been from Gonda area. Dr Umesh Kumari Chairman Zila Panchayat, Aligarh was from Gonda itself. 
      Baba Harvansh- a famous wrestler died after the age of 100 was Gonda area. 
      Dr. Berindam Gunakar a national social figure was born in Gonda. 
      Mr Khushiram Varshney Ex Principal had been a famous person of the area. 
      Mr Komal Prasad Varshney Chief Engineer also from Gonda. Two son of Shri Hari Shanker Varshney namely Sukh ram and Phool Chand are serving in New Delhi Municipal Council were born in Gonda. 
       Mr Manoj Kumar born in the village Nagla Bhuvia, is an one of the significant rising personality as an Agriculturist and Public Figure in Haryana.

Thakur Ravikaran Singh ( Elani) known as famous social personality from Dhara ki Garhi near Gonda.

     During day time private buses from Iglas and Khair towns of District Aligarh are available for Gonda. 
     Three wheelers from Khair road bye pass crossing of District headquarters Aligarh also are available from 7am to 7pm.
