Gohar Markosjan-Käsper

Gohar Markosjan-Käsper (Armenian: Գոհար Մարկոսյան-Կասպեր, born in Yerevan) is an Armenian writer, currently residing in Tallinn, Estonia.[1] [2] [3] [4]

Her father was an opera singer and mother a ballet-dancer. She graduated the university as a Russian philologist. Since 1990, she has been married to Kalle Käsper, an Estonian writer and translator. Markosjan-Käsper's best-known work is probably the novel Penelope (translated into French, German - as Penelope, die Listenreiche,[5] Dutch and Spanish)her novels Helena and The Caryatides[6] have also been successful in Russia and the Western Europe. Her works have been characterized as magical realist. She writes in Russian; she is also member of the Estonian Union of Writers[7] (Eesti Kirjanike Liit). Before moving to Estonia, Gohar Markosjan used to work as a doctor in Yerevan.
