Gohar Jageer (Urdu: گوہرجاگِير), is a village in union council 17-R Usman Wala, tehsil and district, Kasur, province Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated in the south west of Kasur city on the bank of canal BRB. Its population is approximately Ten thousand. Most of its inhabitants are linked with agriculture and farming. Villages around Gohar Jageer are Tatara Kamil, Usman wala, Kili Sokal, Mahalam, Noor Pur and Rajowal. Arain is the majority caste of this village. There is one boys’ primary school and one girls’ primary school in this village, having adequate staff, but lacking in proper infrastructure.

It is situated in the midst of rich and fertile agricultural land. Wheat, Rice and sugarcane are abundantly cultivated crops in this area. It has a Rangers checkpost on its main entrance on BRB canal. It is the biggest village in respect of population in this union council. Although the people of this village having been living a peaceful and harmonious life since many years yet, the two recent brutal murder incidents have wreaked havoc in the village. In 2012, Muhammad Safdar son of Muhammad shafi became the victim of honour killing while another person Muhammad Rehmat lost his life over a petty land dispute.

Political History Of This Village

Politics is deeply ingrained in the very psyche of the natives of this village. Its clearcut proof is that quite a large number of persons from this village has contested provincial level and local Government elections in the last 20 years. In LOcal Government Elections of 2000, which were held during early days of General Musharref's regime, Shabbir Hussain of this village became the Nazim of union council usman wala. While in 2005 Local Government Elections, Mujahid Muhammad Yaqub of this village became the Naib-Nazim of this union council.

2013 GENERAL ELECTIONS OF PAKISTAN.

Four candidates of this village are taking part in 2013 General Elections of Pakistan. MUJAHID MUHAMMAD YAQUB is contesting elections from the constituency NA-140 National Assembly Of Pakistan and also from PP-179, Kasur, Punjab. While SHABBIR HUSSAIN and ASGHAR ALI are also contesting from PP-179, kasur, Punjab. All these candidates have been cleared by National Accountability Bureau Of Pakistan (NAB), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and State Bank of Pakistan.

ELECTION SYMBOLS.

Election Commission of Pakistan finally allotted Election symbols to all independent candidates on 20 January 2013. Mujahid Muhammad Yaqub was allotted the symbol Stag for both National and Provincial Assembly seats. He afterwards withdrew himself from NA-140 constituency in favour of former Foreign Minister Mian Khursheed Mehmud Kasuri and will now contest from pp-179 only. Shabbir hussain was allotted the symbol of Pitcher. And Asghar Ali got the symbol of Generator.

Unfortunately no candidate of this village could win any provincial or national assembly seat. Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan won pp 179 seat while Malik Rasheed Ahmed Khan became successful from NA 140 constituency.
