Godwin Franco is an Indian footballer who is a midfielder for Royal Wahingdoh F.C. in the I-League on loan from Kerala Blasters FC of the Indian Super League.[1]

Career

Early career

Godwin Franco is from Guirim, Goa . He is a product of the famous Sesa Football Academy. Before that he played for Assagao, Anjuna Football Academy. He has played for the U-16, U-19, U-21 football teams for his state Goa . He captained Goa at the U-21 level and played for India football team at Lusofonia games in Macau.

He started his professional career with Churchill Brothers , with whom he played for two seasons. Then he played a season for Fransa-Pax FC and then he was with Sporting Clube de Goa for three seasons , all of whom were in the I-League .[2]

Pune F.C.

In 2009 Godwin joined Pune F.C. for whom he played in the I-League . The club finished 3rd in the league that season.

Dempo S.C.

In 2010 Godwin joined Dempo S.C.. He has won the I-League Super cup and many trophies with Dempo S.C.. He played in the AFC Champions League qualifier vs Al Sadd, Qatar who were the AFC Champions League winners that season and came third in the FIFA World Club Championship. He played in the AFC Cup for Dempo S.C. as well.

Fortuna Düsseldorf

Godwin Franco was selected by German Club Fortuna Düsseldorf for trials. He was on trials with Fortuna Düsseldorf in November 2013 . Fortuna Düsseldorf are former Bundesliga (German Top Division) Champions. They were Uefa (European) Cup Winners Cup finalist in 1979 against Fc Barcelona as well.

Kerala Blasters FC

On 22 July 2014 Godwin joined Kerala Blasters FC franchise for the newly formed Indian Super League . He helped Kerala Blasters FC win 2nd position in the 1st Indian Super League .

International

Godwin was also a part of the Indian Under-19 team in 2003 and a part of the India football team for the 2006 Lusofonia Games Macau . Godwin was also a part of the India national football team camp for the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup.
