Gloria Davy
Gloria Davy (March 29, 1931 – November 28, 2012)[1] was a Brooklyn-born African-American opera singer. In 1958, Davy became the first black artist to sing in Aida at the New York Metropolitan Opera.[2] Davy, a Lirico-spinto, received a positive reception from the audience,[3] and provided a breakthrough to drawing attention to black classical singers. She performed there regularly for three years, including The Magic Flute, Pagliacci, and Il Trovatore.[4]
