Gleditsia aquatica, is commonly called water locust after its habitat of river swamps and slough margins. It is native to the Southeastern United States and adjacent regions. It is closely related to its family, the Locusts. Like the other locusts, it produces a pod. However, these pods usually only hold one seed. The leaves are usually Simple-Compounded, but sometimes appears Acacia.
