Glamorgan Business School

Established in 1992, the Glamorgan Business School has become a major provider of applied, vocational business education across the full range of non-degree, under-graduate, post-graduate and professional courses in Wales.[1] [2]

The School is one of seven academic faculties that make up the University of South Wales and has expertise up to professorial level in the areas of finance and accounting, strategy, marketing, economics, enterprise, human resource management, leadership and governance. The School is also a Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) Centre of Excellence.[3] [4]

Monica Gibson-Sweet as Faculty Dean has overall responsibility for the academic leadership and management of the School, supported by a Senior Management Team.

Students

The Glamorgan Business School has a student body of approximately 4,000 students, with students studying full-time, part-time, on-line, on-campus and off-campus at locations in Pontypridd, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, London and overseas.

Research

Following the publication of the results from the Research Assessment Exercise 2008, (RAE2008), where the Glamorgan Business School research was submitted, 5% was assessed as world leading, 10% as internationally excellent, 50% as recognised internationally and 35% recognised nationally. None was unclassified.

The six research centres at the Glamorgan Business School are led by academics in the fields of entrepreneurship and enterprise; work place bullying; leadership; marketing; organisational governance; creative supply chain thinking; public service management; organisational sustainability; business ethics; and creative organisational development.

Location

Situated on the University's main campus in Treforest, Wales, the school can be accessed via Treforest railway station from either Cardiff, Merthyr or the Rhondda; regular bus services or the A470. The Glamorgan Business School is also accessed via the M4 motorway. From junction 32 taking the A470 northbound toward Merthyr Tydfil, exiting the Llantrisant signpost for the A473.
