Giulia Moi (born 24 May 1971) is an Italian Member of the European Parliament for the Five Star Movement. She was elected in 2014.[1]
She graduated with a degree in biology from the University of Cagliari and completed a PhD at King's College London entitled "Chemistry and biological activity of Kigelia pinnata relevant to skin conditions".
Her political campaign for the European Parliament election sparked controversy within the movement after some activists issued a letter accusing her of lack of cooperation with the other candidates, of hiding her previous political experience, and writing unverifiable information on her resume about activism and a scientific discovery.[2][3] She has responded on the latter accusation by declaring that she could not give explanations about its discovery because the research projects funded by international companies may be subject to restrictions due to IP.
