Girls in the Sun (Greek: Κοριτσια στον Ηλιο, translit. Koritsia ston ilio) is a 1968 Greek drama film directed by Vasilis Georgiadis.[1][2] The film was selected as the Greek entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 42nd Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee.[3] The film was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Plot
A young English tourist Annabel meets a Greek shepherd near the beach. The shepherd approaches her to give her some almonds but she scared by his uncouth image misunderstands his intention. Soon, he is founded in prison accused for the rape of tourist. But she regretted for her excessive reaction visits him to bring him various things and try persuading the authorities to release him. Gradually, the shepherd fall in love for the tourist and after releasing follows her in Athens. But she must return in her country and his innocent love doesn't have future.[4][5]
