Gimadanga

Gimadanga ( গিমাডাঙ্গা ) is the largest village of Patgati union at Tungipara Upazilla in Gopalgonj of Bangladesh. It comprises 18 villages. Tungipara was once included with this village. During 1984 it was separated from Patgati and became Upazilla.

History

Gimadanga was once under water, so the people lived on higher land. The village is called Gimadanga because, in the Bengali language, high land surrounded by water on every side is called 'danga'. As the village is large, different parts are named Purbopara, Possimpara, Dokhinpara, Uttarpara, Moddhopara.

Education

Once this area lacked educational institutions. There are now four high schools, a single woman's high school, 15 primary schools and some pre-primary schools run by BRAC.

Occupation

Agriculture the is main occupation in this village but some people are employed by the government.
