Gilotar

The Gilotar are a Jat gotra (clan), found in the Punjab province of Pakistan.

History and origin

In 1909, the Gilotar were reported to be entirely confined to Jhang District, with their villages being situated on the banks of the Chenab river. Origin of the Gilotar clan is found from Uch Sharif in India other than their traditions refer to them having arrived from Hansi, in what is now Haryana, in India. Like the Harals, there are also some traditions which connect the Gilotar with the Ahir ethnic group of North India.[1]
