Gillian Joseph (born 20 July 1969)[1] is a British newscaster currently working for Sky News.
Early life
She was born in 1969 in Coventry. Her parents originated from Dominica in the Caribbean. After being born in England she went back to Dominica where her mother worked as a teacher, but later returned to England. She has two daughters and a son.
Education
Joseph was an MA student at City University in London, studying Broadcast Journalism.
Journalism career
Joseph originally worked for the BBC in Manchester, as well as working as a radio reporter for Radio Merseyside. She worked for Newsbeat on BBC Radio 1 in 1994. In 1998, she moved to London and presented Newsroom South East until it ended in 2001. She then went on to present its replacement BBC London News until 2005 when she moved to Sky News.
During her time at Sky, Gillian has presented Sky News at Ten, Sky News in the evening alongside Jeremy Thompson and the first hour of News, Sport & Weather.
Currently she is the summary presenter on Sky News Sunrise with Mark Longhurst from 6am - 9am on Friday and between 6am - 10am on Saturday and Sunday, and from January 2011 she now presents The Live Desk on Fridays. She also regularly stands in for Longhurst if he is absent or covering another shift. Gillian also now works on a Monday, on the afternoon summary shift (11am - 5pm).
Other programmes
Joseph co-hosted the 2004 series called Evidence: Through My Experience with Pastor Dwight K. Nelson.
She is also a former reporter for the BBC's Holiday programme.
