Gilberto Ramírez Sánchez (born June 19, 1991 in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico) is an undefeated Mexican professional boxer in the Middleweight division and is considered the best boxing prospect from Mexico.[1] Ramírez is the current WBC Youth World Middleweight Champion[2] and is promoted by current WBC Champion, Mexican Saúl Álvarez' company Canelo Promotions.[3]

Amateur career

During his amateur career, Ramírez was a Mexican Junior National Champion and a three time Mexican National Amateur Champion in the Elite Category.[4][5]

Professional career

In April 2010, Gilberto beat veteran Jesus Ayala by 2nd round K.O. in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico.[6]

On December 17, 2010[7] Ramírez knocked out the undefeated Rogelio Medina to win the vacant WBC Youth World Middleweight Championship. The bout was held at the Gimnasio German Evers in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico.[8][9]
