Ghitorni is a census town in the South West district in the state of Delhi, India. It is located in southern Delhi, near the Gurgaon border and Vasant Kunj. In the 2001 census the population was 9,152.[1] The population consists mainly of the Gurjar ethnic group (75%), as well as the Brahmans (10%), SC (10%), Aggarwals and others (5%) (estimated).

Infrastructure

Ghitorni lies between the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, the Mehrauli Gurgaon Road.

Ghitorni is served by DTC bus routes 517,525, and BG which run along the Mehrauli Gurgaon Road.[2]

Ghitorni lies 5 km east south east of the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Sports

Kusti akhada and gyms are a very popular choice of its youth population, with interest in those past times still growing. Similar to the rest of India, cricket is the most popular sport, followed by volleyball and kabbadi. volleyball team are knowns as (LOHIA SPORTS CLUB) THIS VOLLEYBALL TEAM ARE MAINTAINED BY CH J.K LOHIA & BHAI MANOJ LOHIA URF AFRIDI. THERE IS ALSO MANY TEAMS OF CRICKET N VOLLEYBALL ONE OF THE FAMOUS TEAM IN GHITORNI IS HARI SPORTS CLUB (GHITORNI) ORGANISERS SUCH AS BEERSINGH PAHALWAN,DHEERAJ PAHALWAN,SUBEDAR PREMSINGH JI, MEHERSINGH URF MEHRU ANY MANY OTHERS PLAYERS NAME SUCH AS SURENDER PRADHAN JI, BIJENDER PRADHAN JI, JAIPRAKSH, BIJENDER LOHIA, BIJENDER PAHALWAN, GULLU PAHALWAN, VIJAYPRAKASH, JOGINDER(JOGI), HARVANSH, MANISH,VINOD, RAKESH(RAKA),PAWAN(jd) HAMIDA, SHIV(SONU) HARISH, SANJAY(MANGAL)AND MANY OTHERS

Religion

The majority of the population follows Hinduism, with Islam and Christianity having considerable, but smaller numbers of followers. In addition, a group of young men have started following Vadik Dharma (Arya Samaj).

Education

The education level is similar to the rest of the Delhi region and has been showing steady increases in literacy with each governmental census; currently at about 86% of the population older than 7 years of age. There is a Government Boys Senior Secondary School campus in Ghitorni and K.S.M PUBLIC SCHOOL which is a senior secondary school affiliated to C.B.S.E.

Sources of Income

The main source of income Ghitorni is the rental income from residential and commercial properties. Some residents are also in government jobs. Some of the residents of Ghitorni are quite wealthy and are actively involved in politics. Ghitorni is also famous for its PAHALWANS,BODYBUILDERS,CRICKETRS,PROPERTY DEALERS some of them are very influential and powerful.
