Ghilamara is situated very east of Lakhimpur district in Assam.
Geographical Description
Situated in border of Lakhimpur and Dheamji district. It is belongs to Dhakuakhana sub division. Dhemaji is in the east, Gogamukh is in the north, Brahmaputra is in the south and the Subansiri River is in the west side of Ghilamara.
Weather
As the place is situated in bank of Arunachal hill, the weather is pretty cold in the month of January and very hot in the month Jul-Aug. The average temperature in winter season is from 5 to 20 degree Celsius and in summer it increases to 18-36 degree Celsius. Annual rain is from 200–250 cm.
History
The history of Ghilamara is found in many books. There is no record of this place before "Ahom kingdom rule in Assam. After lost against "Ahom" the "Chutia" people started to live in these place. But once there was a big fight between "Ahum" and "Chutia", and the minster of "chutia" force named "Ghila" was dead in this place. From that incident the place is named as Ghilamara.
