Location

Geylang Bahru MRT Station (DT24) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Downtown Line Stage 3 in Singapore. It is located along Kallang Bahru Road, near the neighbourhood of Geylang Bahru, hence the station's name. It serves the residents living near the Kallang River, and those who work at the Geylang Bahru Industrial Estate. With this station, residents need not rely on buses and Kallang. It is more convenient for commuters to travel from the old estate of Kallang Bahru to the downtown area or Tampines and Singapore Changi Airport.

Facilities in the vicinity

There is also a swimming complex near the station, called the Kallang Basin Swimming Complex. The station is within the vicinity of Kallang and Boon Keng. It is a 10 minutes walk from this station to Kallang and Lorong 1 Geylang Bus Terminal.

History

Geylang Bahru MRT Station was formerly known as Kallang Bahru MRT Station until August 2011. Construction tender had been awarded in June 2011 but due to unforeseen circumstances, this had to be delayed to October 2011 due to sewerage works. Road realignment started on 28 January 2012.
