Gestational thrombocytopenia

Gestational thrombocytopenia is a primarily benign condition of pregnancy of uncertain significance, believed to be related to idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.

There are 5 criteria:

1. mild and asymptomatic thrombocytopenia
2. no evidence of fetal thrombocytopenia
3. development late in pregnancy
4. no history of thrombocytopenia outside of pregnancy
5. spontaneous resolution once the child is delivered
