Georgian parliamentary election, 2016

The Georgian parliamentary election of 2016 will be held in Georgia to elect the country's 9th Parliament. At stakes will be 150 seats to an unicameral parliament—77 members elected by proportional representation and 73 elected in single-member constituencies.[1]

The ruling Georgian Dream coalition, led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, will seek re-election for a second term in office.[2][3] Opposition parties that had confirmed their intention to challenge the incumbents include the formerly ruling United National Movement, the Free Democrats—formerly a member of the Georgian Dream—led by Irakli Alasania,[4] and the Alliance of Patriots of Georgia.[5]
