Georges Plassat
Georges Plassat (Born March 1949) is a French businessman. He serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Carrefour.[1][2][3]
Biography
Early life
Georges Plassat graduated from the École hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland and Cornell University.[1][2]
Career
After starting his career at Hilton Worldwide, Plassat worked for Eurest and Groupe Casino, where he served as CEO and then Chairman of the Board of Directors.[1] While at Casino, he insisted on giving stock options to all employees, including cashiers.[1] However, he left the company in 1997 after a dispute with Jean-Charles Naouri, his successor as CEO, over the future of the company.[4]
He went on to work for French apparel group Vivarte, whose brands include André, Kookaï, La Halle, Naf-Naf and Chevignon.[1] He was named Director and CEO in 2004.[5]
In June 2012, Plassat became CEO of Carrefour after Lars Olofsson resigned.[1]
He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Consumer Goods Forum.[6]
Personal life
He enjoys playing rugby and going to the opera.[1]
